A FILM ABOUT COMPASSION…WITH ZOMBIES!
“Written, Directed and Produced by Chris Cooney”
A college student is driven to find the source of a mysterious illness that appears to originate from the meat and dairy supply, which has begun to render the local community into mindless zombies.
HOW WE GOT HERE
Bringing A44 to life has been an incredible journey of perseverance and passion. Since we began this project in April 2009, we’ve faced numerous hurdles that at times made us question whether we’d ever see this film completed. Yet, it’s precisely these challenges that have shaped A44 into what it is today—a story that not only entertains but also carries a message close to my heart. At its core, A44 is a tale of compassion, told through the unexpected lens of a zombie narrative. It’s the first feature film of its kind—a pro-vegan story that isn’t a documentary. By infusing elements of comedy and not taking ourselves too seriously, we’ve created a film that invites viewers to laugh, reflect, and perhaps see the world a bit differently. The friendship between the lead character and his loyal German Shepherd is central to the story. My hope is that audiences will connect with this bond and consider extending that sense of empathy to all animals. If we can inspire even a small shift in perspective, then our efforts will have been worthwhile. This film wouldn’t exist without the incredible support of our community. Crowdfunding A44 has been both humbling and inspiring. We’ve kept our backers updated every step of the way, and knowing that hundreds of people are excited to see this movie come to fruition has fueled our determination to overcome every obstacle. Despite our tight budget, we’re committed to delivering a polished final product. We’re currently fine-tuning visual effects in post-production and working on designs for the film’s poster. Every detail matters, and we’re devoted to creating an experience that resonates.
I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved with A44. It’s been a labor
of love, and I can’t wait to share this unique story with all of you.
